I have an old client who I worked with in the past, when I was still learning the ropes. Now, further into my business they want me to give the same rate despite me expressing the change in my overheads, products and costs.

I have offered them a very good market rate and anything less will not be productive enough for me. They are very keen to use me and I would love to do the job but need to earn a crust too. They are lovely people and I don't want them to feel that I haven't valued their past custom and they really want me to do this almost as a favour to them.

I have explained why my costs have increased over time but they still seem rather surprised by my charges.

I'm interested in hearing from people that have clients haggling them down to an uncomfortable rate?
